Lycopene is found in tomatoes, watermelon, and all red fruits and vegetables (except the berries which are part of the red-purple group). Like other Phytonutrients, lycopene is concentrated in a specific organ : the prostate gland in men and the breast tissue in women. Lycopene does not occur by itself in the tomato but as part of a family of compounds that are related and work together in cells. You can see the similar structures in the figure in the left hand corner of the slide. Eating cooked tomatoes or pasta sauce provides more lycopene to your body than raw tomatoes. Having tomato products like pasta sauce, tomato juice, or tomato soup five times per week has been associated with better prostate and breast health #drdavidheber #lycopene #tomato #watermelon #prostate #breast to learn more go to www.drdavidheber.com and www.herbalifenutritioninstitute.com
