SKIN NUTRITION is vital to your health because everything you eat ends up in your skin By itingwu12 on May 30, 2017 • ( 0 ) View this post on Instagram SKIN NUTRITION is vital to your health because everything you eat ends up in your skin. Skin is the largest organ in the body weighing 2 kg on average. The skin is covered by 14 layers of dead cells that need to be nourished from the outside while the growing skin cells deep below the surface are nourished from the blood stream. Protein is important to maintain skin health along with vitamin C which helps to make collagen, the protein that gives skin its ability to stretch called elasticity. Healthy fats in your diet and applied to the skin help moisturize the surface of the skin. Vitamin A can be made from beta-carotene in orange vegetables which is deposited in the skin where it acts to protect the skin from the damaging effects of the sun. Vitamin A from meats, dairy, and vitamin supplements help mature the skin cells. Vitamins C and E are also antioxidants in the skin's upper layers and growing cells. Vitamin B3 protects the genetic material called DNA in the cells of the skin. (The slide says B6 but it should list B3). Good skin health is a marker of healthy aging and reflects the benefits of balanced nutrition and healthy active lifestyle. #drdavidheber #skin #skincare #skinfood #vitamins #protein #collagen to learn more. go to www.drdavidheber.com and www.herbalifenutritioninstitute.com A post shared by Dr. David Heber (@drdavidheber) on May 27, 2017 at 4:37am PDT Share this:TwitterFacebookLike this:Like Loading...‹ FIBER is an important nutrient that is often forgotten because it is inside of other foods.Mercury in Fish is something I get questions about even though it is not established that eating high mercury fish is unhealthy ›Categories: Nutrition
