It was used as what is called an adaptogen to fight stress and the common cold as well as minor infections. It comes from the roots of the plant and is made as a tea or soup. As a tea, 3 to 6 grams is added to hot water and taken three times a day. As with many herbs, modern science has found some interesting facts. Cells can only divide 21 times before dying. This has been linked to the loss of the ends of chromosomes called telomeres. Some cells live forever in the male sperm-producing cells , the cells in the intestines that make the villi for absorbing food, and tumor cells. These cells all have an enzyme called telomerase. Dr. Elizabeth Blackburn at University of California, San Francisco won the Nobel Prize for the discovery of telomerase. Astralagus stimulates telomerase in cells including immune cells. There is no evidence yet in humans, but it's immune effects and anti-aging potential deserve more research. #drdavidheber #herbs #immunity #adaptogen #telomerase to learn more go to www.drdavidheber.com and www.herbalifenutritioninstitute.com A post shared by Dr. David Heber (@drdavidheber) on Jun 25, 2017 at 5:39am PDT Share this:TwitterFacebookLike this:Like Loading...‹ Diet Myth #17: KETONE BODY DIET Doesn’t Work!!
