BILBERRY is very closely related to blueberry, but it is picked wild in Scandinavia rather than cultivated on farms. It is rich in antioxidants and like other members of the red-purple group of the What Color is Your Diet? Color Code, it contains anthocyanins. In World War II, it was given to Royal Air Force flyers to improve their night vision. There is no clinical evidence for this benefit, but the idea remains popular. Bilberries are eaten in jams and pies in Europe and are especially popular in Poland. This is the second in our alphabetical list of herbal facts examining the science and legends behind botanical dietary supplements and traditional medicines. #drdavidheber #herbs #vision #bilberry #whatcolorisyourdiet to learn more go to www.drdavidheber.com and www.herbalifenutritioninstitute.com
