NUTRITION WHYS#1: PROTEIN AND MUSCLE- The protein you eat is broken down to amino acids which enter the muscles to make protein or are broken down and excreted from the body. Unlike carbohydrate and fat which are stored in the body as glycogen and carbohydrates, you do not store amino acids. Between meals and when you are asleep, your muscles release amino acids into the blood stream. You need to eat the right amount of protein for your body to maintain your muscle protein at 1 gram per pound of lean body mass per day divided among your meals and snacks. Most people eat too little protein at breakfast which is why a Protein-Rich Shake at breakfast is so important. You also need a Protein-Rich Shake within 30 minutes to one hour after resistance exercise to build your muscles. Many people eat too little protein overall when you realize that by eating most of their daily protein at dinner, some of the protein at dinner is more than the body can convert to protein and is used for energy or is broken down and excreted. For those who eat too little protein at dinner supplement your dinner with an Evening Shake. Balance your protein throughout the day and at each meal along with exercises targeting specific muscles with a personal plan for exercise along with a healthy active lifestyle!!#drdavidheber #protein #muscle #exercise to learn more go to www.drdavidheber.com and www.herbalifenutritioninstitute.com
