WEIGHT MANAGEMENT BASICS #20: STIMULUS CONTROL- Stress leads to unplanned eating and snacking of high fat/high sugar snack foods. This is a learned response just like the bird on the slide who learned that the image of a yellow car could lead to food if the bird pushed the yellow button. There are stresses that can lead to overeating just as the image of the yellow car stimulated the bird to get food by pressing the yellow button. What is your yellow car?? Both personal internal and external stresses can lead to overeating. Internal stresses are boredom, loneliness, anger, sadness, anxiety, cravings, and depression. External stresses are often out of our control at work and at home, but the key is how your react to them. Sometimes you can create more stress than is necessary by overreacting quickly which can lead to overeating. Try not to react right away so you can think about how to respond. In terms of nutrition, you can reduce your chances of using food to reduce stress by planning your meals and snacks in advance, and exercising regularly to reduce stress as part of Balanced Nutrition and a Healthy Active Lifestyle together with Protein-Rich Nutrient Dense Shakes which help control hunger reducing that drive to overeat!! Next time, I will discuss how to monitor your behaviors – So stay tuned for that!! #drdavidheber #stress #depression #anger #weightlossjourney to learn more go to www.drdavidheber.com and www.herbalifenutritioninstitute.com and read PERSONALIZED NUTRITIONAND TRANSFORMATION available on Amazon.com for $5.49
