HAPPINESS #9: HAPPINESS AND HEALTH- Happiness is so important because it is related closely to good health. Happiness is associated with the release of endorphins, serotonin, dopamine, norepinephrine and other neurotransmitters associated with brain health. Happiness itself is associated with lower blood pressure, lower pulse, and better immune function. Balanced Nutrition and Healthy Active Lifestyle have effects on the brain including increased blood flow bringing needed oxygen to brain cells and stimulating Brain Derived Growth Factor (BDNF). Research done at UCLA shows that BDNF promotes more connections between nerve cells in the brain which may promote happiness by improving brain functioning. The relationship between Health and Happiness is also key to a longer life. Studies over many years among nuns in a convent who filled out a questionnaire on happiness when they entered the convent showed that they lived 7 to 9 years longer if they indicated greater than average happiness on entry to the convent. Another study in residents of Alameda County, California found that happier participants were less like to die during the 30 year study. So Happiness can put more years in your life and more life in your years! The relationship of Health and Happiness goes in both directions – if you are healthier, you are happier and if you are happier then you are healthier!! #drdavidheber #happiness #health #brain to learn more go to www.drdavidheber.com and www.herbalifenutritioninstitute.com and read PERSONALIZED NUTRITION AND TRANSFORMATION available at Amazon.com
