CHANGING HABITS #2: HOW HABITS WORK – Why are bad habits so hard to break? Do you have trouble resisting high fat/high sugar/ high salt foods? To learn to change your habits, let’s look at the anatomy of a Habit. A Habit has three parts: 1) The CUE which can be a memory, a smell, a taste, a sound, a stress response or a feeling; 2) The ROUTINE BEHAVIOR which can be automatic and unconscious once the Habit is strong; and 3) The REWARD which is a pleasant feeling resulting from the release of Dopamine in the Reward Center. This pleasant feeling is recorded in the Memory Center of the brain and as the Habit becomes stronger the parts of the brain where the Cue, Behavior, Reward and Memory occur are connected through a network of brain cell connections so the Habit Cycle becomes automatic. If for some reason, the Reward cannot be obtained after the Cue is sensed, then CRAVING leading to anxiety and suffering occurs. In this series, you will learn how to break this cycle, change bad habits and defeat craving through establishing good habits including Protein-Rich Shakes, Balanced Nutrition and a Healthy Active Lifestyle! Next time I will discuss CUES-so stay tuned!! #drdavidheber #healthyhabits #changinghabits to learn more go to www.drdavidheber.com and www.herbalifenutritioninstitute.com and read PERSONALIZED NUTRITION AND TRANSFORMATION available as an e-book on Amazon.com for $5.49
